Back to the roots, looking to the future: We are making our knowledge open source

It has been a while since you last heard from us.
To our surprise, we have noticed that rumors about an alleged dissolution of our company are increasingly circulating. We firmly reject these rumors: Hirschmann & Koxha GbR remains active. It is true, however, that our shareholder structure—analogous to our business areas—is undergoing a fundamental change.
Today, we are initiating the first part of this transformation.
As became clear at the beginning of February, our focus is shifting from Automotive (Legacy) to "Next Gen". The background for this is quite simple: the shrinking vehicle inventory of our main customer group. Compared to the previous year, the German Federal Motor Transport Authority (KBA) recorded a 5.1% decline in Saab vehicles. Internationally, a similar picture is emerging, despite a lack of robust data.
It is hard to state these facts, but there is no point in closing our eyes to them. This trend has been on our minds since 2024. For this reason, we consciously reduced our repair volume in 2025 to create space for new developments—both personally and as a company. We achieved a major breakthrough at the beginning of June. We will shortly present the result to a professional audience and will reach out again on the day of publication.
We are using the current transition phase to consolidate our business in the legacy sector. When performance and expectations drift apart, one runs the risk of forgetting their roots—the very roots that made our success possible in the first place. For this reason, we have decided to break all dependencies on external service providers and go on the offensive. Not simply to make money or increase brand awareness, but to preserve what is close to our hearts.
Therefore, today we are introducing our new platform HK One as well as the successor to the Halogen Check Disabler – HK LUMO:
- HK One launches today as a modern web version for WIS/EPC content. Later this week, we will expand the platform with at least one new feature. Another will follow next week.
- HK LUMO is a completely new development of the Halogen Check Disabler and includes its own implementation of the proprietary Tech2 SAE J2534 standard. This implementation was created independently through "clean room" reverse engineering and is now being made available open-source to the entire Saab community under the AGPLv3 license. With the help of this DLL, the Tech2 can, for the first time, also be used as an experimental interface for the TrionicCANFlasher.
For the repair division, we are announcing the following changes:
- Discontinuation of all Trionic 8 repairs
- Offering of tested used devices including a warranty
- Full disclosure of all scientific and process-related findings for carrying out the repairs
